Dragon backstories/adventures

The following story is by Wolflight

Amberleaf and Korona:

The Adventure to The Isle Of Night!

The sun was sinking low in the horizon, it bathed the girl and her dragon in honeyed light.
Below them the watery sillhouette of a scauldron faded into the murk of the darkening sea, the girl buried her hands deeper in Korona's thick fur.

The thwack and slice of Korona's wings was soothing, Amberleaf counted the beats and let her thoughts be hummed into rhythm with the motion of flight.

The evening faded into night and the inky sky became speckled with silver. The moon was a massive, unblinking eye that cast a cold light over the waves. Korona opened her mouth and a jet of purple flame streamed out, painting the night with streaks of violet.

"What do you say we find a place to rest?" Amberleaf yawned.

Korona growled in approval.

"Down there!"Amberleaf called.

She pointed to a sheltered Island set away from all the rest.

Korona growled.

"Come on girl! Dive!" Amberleaf urged.
Folding her feathery wings into her body, Korona plummeted through the sky, before opening them again and swooping down towards the Island.
"At a girl!" Amberleaf cheered. "That was our best dive yet!"
Korona seemed dispondent.

Figuring it was because she was tired, Amberleaf led her over to the shelter of a rocky outcrop. A large dip in one of the boulders provided shelter from the wind. Korona lit a fire and curled up around Amberleaf, putting a feathery wing over her.
Amberleaf snuggled into her dragons warm body, and together they slept, unaware of the two green eyes staring at them from the trees.

"Morning girl!" Amberleaf yawned. "Korona where are you!?"
Still drunk with sleep and aching from cramp Amberleaf dragged herself out of the makeshift shelter. Korona was fishing in a nearby rockpool, using her tail as a lure.

"Don't you ever do that to me again!" Amberleaf scolded, noticing the quiet amusment flickering in her dragon's eyes.

"You wont catch much in there girl!" Amberleaf said.

Korona gave her an 'Oh really,' look, and lifted her wing to reveal a pile of silvered fish.

"Fair enough!" Amberleaf giggled. "Now, lets go and explore!"

The Island was bigger than either of them had first noted.
It had alot of wild dragons on it!
A pack of Deadly Nadder slept in the sun, a Monstorus Nightmare played with her hatchlings, Gronckles excavated the cliffs and Hideous Zipplebacks argued with eachother!
As they ventured further in more variety of dragons were found.

A Razorwhip drunk from a turquoise lagoon, its scales silver and red, its eyes gemstone green. It looked at the girl and her Banded Featherlure, before it melted into the tangle of trees. A Timberjack had folded its wings into a massive tent shape, its head down. It looked like wood smoke and ash was floating in its scales.

Whispering Death caves peppered one particular cliff face, Amberleaf and Korona flew past as silently and quickly as they could. A Snafflefang feasted on geodes and the submurged shape of Mudraker looked eerie in the swamp.

Korona and Amberleaf ducked as a pack of changed wings shifted pass, merging seemlessly into the landscape.

When they had nearly reached the centre of the Island Amberleaf stopped and stared in amazment. Dragons! Everywhere!

Hobblegrunts, Snafflefangs, Sandwraiths, Thunderdrums, Stormcutters, Typhoomerangs, Terrible Terrors, Gronckles, Monstorus Nightmares, Deadly Nadders, Hideous Zipplebacks, Woolly Howls, Shockjaws, Smothering Smokebreaths, Groncicles and even a Snow Wraith and that was just some of them.

They were all crowding around a massive lagoon.

It was so big that you Amberleaf couldn't even see the otherside!

Each dragon was taking it in turns to dip their heads in the water and come out with a massive load of gleaming fish. The whole lagoon was full of silvery shapes, salmon, cod, halibut, eels (yuck, for everyone but the Typhoomerang) and to many more to count!

"The dragons must gather here every year to fish! The river connecting the lagoon to the sea must have dried up, trapping all these fish!" Gasped Amberleaf.

Korona licked her lips.

"No girl, we will disturb them!" Amberleaf whispered angrily, battling with her dragons direction.
"This way!"

They flew to the very heart of the Island.

Everything was dark and silent. The trees were charred and twisted and the rocks jagged black granite. Korona growled, a deep guttaral snarl.

"What is it girl?" Amberleaf Whispered.

Then they saw it.

A flash of darker black in the shadows of the trees, the glow of green eyes.

Could it be...

Korona and Amberleaf

The sky was rose gold and pink,
Together, we as one we silently think.
The clouds are a pearly hue,
The only one I want to share this beauty with is you.

Twisting and turning through the sunset hours,
The crimson light blooms, like spring-time flowers.
I bury my hands in Korona's thick fur,
Silently thanking God for giving me her.

We will always be as one,
Twisting and turning through the embers of the sun.
As fast and as swift as a quick summer breeze,
Skimming the sunset, twirling through trees.

Our connection runs deep as the core of life,
Korana's claws outstreatched, as sharp as a knife.
The sun starts to sink low in the skies,
The stars reflecting like diamonds in our eyes.

The clouds are indigo and azure blue,
Through the twilight night we flew.
Above the clouds we soar though the sky,
Catching glimpses of the black sea glistening from on high.

Diving and plummeting through crisp night air,
The wind whipping and pulling, tangling my hair.
Swooping and gliding, as one in the sky,
We'll always be together, Korona and I...
